HIGH SCHOOL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE (2024-04-22)
CONTEST DATE: Saturday, April 20th
CONTEST LOCATION: Oceanside Harbor South Jetty
CONTEST UPDATE:
We're proud to say CONGRATULATIONS to Allegra for winning her Round One Womens Longboard heat representing the Malibu Sharks!!! Even with no backup competitors to help her advance, Allegra went to Oceanside and surfed her heat like a professional, winning it!!! Yet sadly not advancing because the other team had 3 surfers who earned more combined points enabling them to advance.
CONGRATULATIONS also go to Remington, Levi and Dest for working as a team and advancing through the first round of the Mens Shortboard division, beating Carlsbad!! Any time you beat a team from the OC south, you should be extremely proud!!! So proud of the commitment this group showed in representing the Malibu Sharks in Oceanside!!
And a special THANK YOU and KUDOS to the Sharks parents who supported these kids in getting them to the contest and organizing their heats and keeping their Sharks competitive spirits STOKED!! Job well done!!!

Regular Season Contest Results Summary (2024-03-04)
AAaaaaallllright Sharks!! What a GREAT season we had!!!!!
Final Regular Season Rankings are in, and Coach John and Coach Joe are super proud of our results. Overall we took 2nd in the final Team rankings in both Middle School (2/7) and High School (2/10)!! This was a big move for our HS team, so proud of them! And our MS team showed much more dominance in the individual divisions this year compared to last, but still couldn’t edge out our Ventura rival Cabrillo!
On the Malibu Sharks Middle School team, some special recognition must be paid to those on our Team who shined the brightest and set the bar for everyone else this season.
Huge congratulations go to Dashiel for WINNING the Boys Shortboard division! And to Zion (4th) and Kodiak (7th) for finishing Top 10 out of ~70 competitors.
Giant congratulations go to Brooklyn who WON the Girls Shortboard division in her first year as a Shark!
Maaaajor congratulations go to London for DOMINATING the Bodyboard division for the WIN. And to Curren for taking 2nd with only 2 results!
GO SHARKS!
On the High School side we made great strides this year, taking 2nd overall and no less than 3rd in each division. This is a big step up from last season, but also expected since Ventura (our biggest rival who beat us last year) moved to a different division.
Our High School team is always a crap shoot, us coaches never know when driving, other sports, or hormones might lead our best Sharks away…. The fact is, ONCE A SHARK, ALWAYS A SHARK!!!! Surfing isn’t just about competing and we get that. Being a Shark means surfing is always in your heart, and that’s what matters the most.
That said, we still owe some very special High School Sharks some major congratulations!!!
First to Allegra, for WINNING Women’s Longboard to finish her Junior year!
Next to Alex for taking 2nd in Mens Longboard to finish his Senior year! Alex has been a Shark since 6th grade and gets big props for his commitment to the Team!!
And finally congrats to Remington (3rd), Dest (6th), and Levi (7th) for finishing Top 10 out of ~60 competitors in their Freshman year!!! These guys are the immediate future of the Malibu Sharks High School Surf Team!!!
