AND REMEMBER THERE IS A LEAGUE REGISTRATION THAT WILL BE DUE VERY SOON TOO ONCE WE HAVE THE FINAL TEAM MEMBERS COMPLETED. THIS IS IMPERATIVE!

Eligibility of Competitors (from the SSS League we compete in - this is CRITICAL!!!)

Members of a team must be enrolled full-time at the school for which they surf.
Members enrolled full-time in Charter Schools or other California state-approved programs may surf for their school of residence (that which they would attend according to school district and home address) and must adhere to that school district’s policy. Coach to request SSS approval.
If there is not a team at your school of residence, then you can choose another school in your school district in accordance with district/school athletic policy. Coach to request SSS approval.

IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND MMS OR MHS FULL-TIME YOU MUST NOTIFY COACH JOHN ASAP WITH THE INFO ABOVE FOR APPROVAL!

REGISTRATION FEES for 2024/2025 Season:

- Competitor: $1,000 per child (includes all practices, regular season league fees, insurance, and team shwag package)

- Non-Competitor: $750 per child (includes all practices, insurance, and team shwag package)

- $100 discount for each additional kid; Hardship Scholarships are also available, discuss with Coach John

- Cash or Checks are preferred. Please make checks payable to "Malibu Sharks Surf Team Inc."

Additional Program Info:

- The Surf Team Program runs from September to May for kids in grades 6 to 12 (rare exceptions are made for advanced younger surfers)

- Team practices run twice a week, typically Tues and Thurs mornings at Zuma Tower 13 before school

- Our Team competes in the Scholastic Surf Series (SSS) in the L.A.-to-Santa Barbara Middle School and High School Divisions. Go to http://surfsss.org for more info and contest schedules

- We expect Competitors to attend practices regularly; non-competitors are encouraged but not obligated to attend all practices

- We will be running more practice heats and skills clinics this year, with focus on the Middle School Sharks on Tuesdays and High School Sharks on Thursdays

Malibu Sharks Surf Team Mission Statement

Rule Number One: HAVE FUN!

The Malibu Sharks Surf Team is a community organization that supports the physical and mental development of local children through surfing. Our program develops confidence, independence, strength of mind and body, and STOKE in all our kids. Participants can choose their level of involvement and everyone is encouraged to improve at their own pace.

The only requirements for joining the Malibu Sharks Surf Team are:

- You have your own equipment

- You're willing to get in the water on your own and charge the waves!

"We don't teach you how to surf, we teach you how to surf better."
